The Precor EFX 546i is a commercial quality elliptical trainer. Do people need this high quality and heavy duty capacity in their elliptical trainer? Most probably do not, but certainly there is a market for the Precor EFX 546i. This, after all, can accommodate all sort of people, including athletes who will beat their machines with frequent, high intensity workouts as well as (much) heavier, taller users who unable to find a cheaper, non-commercial elliptical trainer that will accommodate them. But there is more to this Precor EFX 546i than its commercial quality.
Not everyone needs a commercial quality elliptical trainer
Commercial quality elliptical trainers are not for everyone. For starters, there are many other elliptical trainers that can help people achieve their fitness goals and a lot of them are 1/10th of the price of the Precor EFX 546i (which currently sells for a heart-stopping $5,499). However, these cheaper alternatives will not accommodate people over 250-300 lbs. This elliptical trainer, on the other hand, definitely will… easily.
As well, this elliptical trainer offers adjustable stride lengths that will extend from 21.2″ to 24.7″. There are two points worth noting here: One is that 21″ strides are considered the “natural” stride length when walking. With that in mind, virtually no elliptical trainer at lesser costs will offer stride lengths of 21″. The second is that the taller the individual, the wider the stride length. That means that if you are over 6 feet tall, you technically need an elliptical trainer that will accommodate stride longer than 21″. This exercise machine achieves that. As well, on this second note, stride lengths naturally expand as you increase exercise intensity and speed.
Other benefits to the Precor EFX 546i elliptical trainer include a wireless heart rate monitor, 10 preset programs, 20 resistance levels and a cross ramp that adjusts 15-40 degrees.
Will not be bought on features alone
The reality with the Precor EFX 546i is that buyers will not dish out the cash simply for the convenience features alone. In fact, the features here are worthy of mockery on elliptical trainers
half the price. In fact, a lot of lower end elliptical trainers will come with at least fifty percent more programs, similar heart-rate monitor features as well as similar cross ramp inclines (although not quite as aggressive as 40 degrees).
Where owners of this exercise machine really stand to enjoy their elliptical trainer and get proper “use” out of it is if they are heavy, tall, professional or semi-professional athletes. Overall, there is a lot of overkill with this machine, like buying a bus instead of a minivan. But of course, there are people who will have no other choice. And for those people, the Precor EFX 546i Commercial Series Elliptical Trainer offers a great buy. This is a gym caliber machine. It will not get hurt and you may never need to replace it… ever.
